Pros

Perform a variety of jobs and work in many different locations/environments. It is a people organization - you will interact with those from all walks of life, though with a heavy leaning towards those who came from a less priviledged background. Great place to learn and develop leadership skills and capabilities.

Cons

Frequency of deployment schedule has been extremely strenuous - though this should be reducing in the future. Many menial and asinine tasks and procedures that Soldiers must do on a day to day basis. Over abundance of rules and regulations may be a deterrent for some.

Pros

Many opportunities to gain skills, increase responsibility, gain education, and have significant leadership responisiblities across a career. You can generally go as far as your skills can take you to a point.

Cons

Plan on frequent travel to locations that no one really wants to travel to. Difficult to balance work and life, especially if you want to be promoted.
