Pros

You get free housing, food aid, free education, and a lot of paid time off. You get certain training that on the civilian side is pretty difficult to get.

Cons

There will be long workdays. Depending on the person, the mandatory training will be very difficult. Leadership can be at times rough to deal with. The duty station you go to will largely dictate what job you do regardless of the training you have done. Work/life balance is difficult at times. Culture can be pretty toxic.
