Pros

Lots of fascinating work, worldwide mission, plenty of places to work overseas if you get bored with the D.C. scene.

Cons

The Counterintelligence Agent career specialty feels too generic since Analysis, HUMINT, and Security also focus on CI but they seem to have more authorities and do it better. Having them in the U.S. Army makes sense because it's massive and has many non-intelligence units and people to support. It doesn't make sense for a much smaller agency with organic CI missions though. It seems like the career specialty only exists because managers are overwhelmingly former U.S. Army types who want DIA to be more like the Army, which is an awkward model.

Pros

I think the organization does their job well, and employees are paid well for their service. For the persons I have worked under, the supervisors have been interested in ensuring you do well in your career and progress, and my coworkers have all been generally great to work with and very professional.

Cons

The promotion process - long and laborious. In order to advance in your career, you may be expected to move to another location.
