Pros

I have been in the government for over 20 years with 5 different agencies and this has been by far the best job I've ever had. Fast paced, high workloads, high pressure, but keep in mind, you not only have a talented and committed team to support you but an entire agency. One that works together to make sure everyone succeeds so the organization can succeed.

Cons

High workloads, short deadlines, high stess, possibility of rejected work, barriers to entry due to highly competitive and competent applicants (don't let this discourage you from applying).

Pros

good work/life balance, work your 40 and don't bring anything home with you, pay better than other agencies

Cons

lots of politics, EXTREMELY risk adverse and not willing to innovate, hard to see how work benefits society, divisions are highly siloed and competitive leading to little cross collaboration
