Pros

Hands down-the people in the branches created a fun atmosphere and the sales guys (both HZ and EW) were some of my favorites. Quick shout out to the guys in IT and the Energy Team. I genuinely loved working with all of them. The HR department does it’s best to turn this company around and make it a fun place to work. They genuinely love their people and will go out of their way for anyone. Corporate, especially HR, does what it can for the health of employees, such as daily walks, an outdoor patio where you can work, and a fit bit challenge (not sure if they still do this).

Cons

Unfortunately the branches are not run by HR or even USESI, they each have their own corporate entities. During my time, they combined two entities and working for either was an unhealthy competition with the other. Competition as in, competing for resources, attention, or any sort of help. You saw one company thrive while the other starved for help. Not a female friendly industry. I was harassed and cornered on a few occasions, as was my coworker. I even had said coworker expose herself to me on a work trip which was incredibly uncomfortable. Work bullying is real, it is even rewarded. This is within the entities as, I believe, corporate USESI would not have allowed it to go on. I feel like I was always paid well but I know of people on the branch level who were struggling. It’s not an achievement to work anywhere for 50 years. Employees should afford to retire (although I know a few that do it for the fun). If I was just rating USESI, I would give it a 5 star review. I loved working here. Unfortunately, if you work in the branches, you work for the individual entities and they take the law into their own hands. I’d like to think the current president means well but he does enjoy watching drama unfold and will definitely light fires quietly. It also is true that they tell employees to write 5-star reviews. I read through a couple. You can see where a 5-star directly answers a 1 or 2 star review. I’m sure one will pop up saying marketing is amazing within the next few days.

US Electrical Services Response

I appreciate your review of EW and HZ during that tumultuous time while the regions were being merged. Today, it is just one family now that the merge was successfully completed. It particularly disturbed me to hear one of our valued employees use a term like bullying. We began a long difficult journey working with Culture experts to help set up the company to be a great place to work. During our annual employee surveys issues like bullying are surfaced and we fix the problems. Because of this work, in the last 5 years our overall culture score as measured by the employees has improved from 42 to 84, which is considered excellent. Randy A Eddy--President and CEO
