Pros

The benefits are good. You work a traditional Mon-Fri schedule. The team is small and working with producers gives you a chance to network.

Cons

Where do I start... It took 3 months for the agency to get me my PIV card, which you need in order to work. The workload is extremely HEAVY and deadlines are back-to-back. It can be very exhausting mentally. There's absolutely ZERO diversity. Co-workers and producers can come off a bit racist, making the work environment very uncomfortable. The lack of training is unbelievable. Software is outdated, tons of paper records, lack of management, and so much more. The environment was toxic and very unprofessional.

Bizarre place to work

Pros

As stated in other reviews federal employee perks are excellent. Credit hours for working overtime flex time etc.

Cons

Training (lack of), interpersonal drama and backbiting and nepotism make it a horrible place to work. Everyone working in the agency says everyone else in incompetent/or doesn't do their job. For example, at a state wide training meeting a Manager directly contradicted the trainer in front of the whole meeting, they proceed to argue, and then the manager sent out e-mails during the training soliciting complaints to be made against the person conducting the training. This person was the head of the department her boss. Unprofessional behavior at it's finest. A hostile workplace for Veterans, My manager vocalized displeasure to me (a service connected disabled veteran) with being forced to hire veterans, and veterans were treated like red-headed step children. Example, a new hire veteran working in a different office had a confrontation with his supervisor so the supervisor made all the veterans in the county over multiple offices attend a teleconference on veterans in the workplace.

Pros

Typical government perks like flex-time and telework options. I get to work on high-level policy decisions, which keeps things interesting.

Cons

I've encountered too many people who seem to consider protecting their turf their number one goal, which makes it difficult to get things done or collaborate effectively. The paperwork requirements are a bit ridiculous.
