Pros

If you have the education and are passionate it can be a good place. Generally people seem to enjoy work far more at the lower levels of the organization structure (wildlife refuges for example). Also good benefits.

Cons

Government salary isn't great. The higher up the organizational structure you go the more political it gets. After spending a few years at the national level I'm worn out and fed up. But if you enjoy the political piece you could love it.

Pros

Get to work with people who are incredibly passionate about conservation. Employee development is a priority.

Cons

For a Federal Agency, the USFWS is very small. This means smaller budgets and less funding to achieve the mission.
