Pros

Great Job security! Advancement is good up to E-6 and after that it is all about politics. Great benefits and retirement. The education opportunities are incredible. I was able to earn an Associates degree and will complete my Bachelor's shortly. The opportunity to travel the world are endless. I have been to 6 different continents and dozens of countries.

Cons

The hardest thing about the Navy is the time away from your family. As stated above advance becomes highly political later in you career. The living condition on ships are less than desirable. It can take some getting use too.

Pros

College money, steady pay, wide choice of jobs depending upon ASVAB score, sense of purpose, physical fitness, meeting new people, and federal job connections.

Cons

Would experience harsh language and attitudes, overwhelming amount of negativity - cursing, complaining, whining, and gossip. Homophobia - jokes, stereotyping, and general immaturity on the topic.
