Pros

Anything over 40 hours is paid overtime which is huge, although overtime is limited by budget. Work life balance is great, and flexible schedules are available. Some people work 9s or 10s to take every other Friday or every Friday off. The work can be challenging and interesting at times. Coworkers are very friendly.

Cons

Starting salaries are probably lower than private industry average. Upward mobility is in many ways limited to the amount of time you have worked there.
