Pros

Steady pay, work sometimes 7 days a week, potential to be full time

Cons

Worked as a regular substitute for 10 years waiting for a route to be available and it never happened. Working on Sundays as a requirement then everyday of the week with no time off is hard, occasionally during Christmas worked from sun up to 9pm at night, no special circumstances even if you are a steady employee working around the clock it burned me out. I drove my own personal cars as well as fixed them and I worked there for years without any insurance benefits or a 401k the money is great but if you ever decide to move onto something else it does nothing for your retirement future.

Pros

you will make decent money and get decent hours especially after your 90 days and holiday seasons. you'll average between 40 to 55 hours.

Cons

the management is horrible. worked at two different offices and the styles in managing even the way the offices work can be completely different. managers care only for their own advancement. managers are rude. you will not have a set off time. you could literally get off any time between 430 and 830 depending on workload. no thought to your other obligations. they will at times break union rules and have you work 7 days a week. you will work most weekends. they do not properly train once you get to an office. it's hectic on your body walking 10 to 15 miles daily. and they do not sufficiently equip you. plus trucks each have a mountain of problems. what your taught in training your told not to do at offices. reporting things gets you targeted. favoritism runs rampant.

Pros

Lots of hours during the holidays.

Cons

It takes YEARS to become a regular “full time” employee. Once a person becomes regular there is no insentive to actually work hard because the CCA’s with have to clean up whatever they didn’t finish. Always expected to come in at the drop of a hat. My postmaster recently made the comment “when you work for the post office you are married to this place”. No... no I’m not. Either way to many hours or way too few. Encouraged to not take a lunch break. Half of my office has to quit or retire for me to make regular.
