Pros

Secure job depending on what Congress decides to do. Excellent pay for non-college applicants. Excellent benefits.

Cons

Benefits are costing more each year, yet they are still above average. If you are a letter carrier, the mail must go through regardless of weather conditions. If you are looking at promotion into management, be very wary of it. Micro-managing like you've never seen it before.

Not what it used to be.

Pros

Relatively decent salary with overtime opportunities for the work being provided. Although somewhat reduced of late, competitive benefit packages and above average retirement options with employer matching funds.

Cons

As is the case in much of industry, staffing cuts have significantly raised expectations on workers from both a Craft and Management perspective. Very often, goals are set with unreasonable or unattainable deadlines leading to sub-par completion and results.

Pros

good benefits and retirement packet. Security in job.

Cons

A lot of pressure to produce, sometimes, what is not achievable with the tools and time given.
