Pros

Things change all the time, you'll never get bored. Hourly above minimum wage. A chance to put smiles on other people's faces. Help protect the integrity and sanctity of the right to private mail.

Cons

No schedule. You work hour to hour, usually 6 days a week. You can work double split shifts. You are expected to be on call, always, and will be out form earlier than 6 am to beyond 6 pm. No chance of career advancement. Sometimes they tell you you will have a uniform allowance or chance to climb the ladder, but the truth is they are doing away with the good jobs because of the debt congress burdoned them with. They are converting all positions and all new people to PSEs and the like. Right now, the outlook is not good at all. Absolutely no benefits. No health insurance. No retirement (even though we are prefunded enough to take care of the next 5 years worth of new employees, we get NO benefits....wonder who is getting all this money?) Very unfriendly coworkers. You rise to your level of incompetency and stay there.
