      Pros

      Great co workers, decent pay, decent benefits. it is a multi-cultural work place. It allows people from all over the country, from all backgrounds a chance, regardless of education level. Does not judge anyone based on race, religion, or sexual identity.

      Cons

      Threat of privatization. Threat of corporate takeover. Sometimes the problem really does start at the top. Too many management ideas all going in different directions. Too much emphasis on getting the numbers right.

      Pros

      I am proud of the service and the dedication of the people I work with at the Post office. This is not the place for anyone looking for an easy way into a gov't job. on a daily basis we encounter every address and do it efficiently. Compare to UPS or Fedex and you will see that the post office offers superior service at a bargain. I wish people would look a little deeper to see how complex a system it is, yet accomplished daily seamlessly.

      Cons

      Unfortunately the Post Office is not subsidized by the gov't. When banks are in trouble or the auto industry, there is help. The Post Office struggles are all attributable to a mandate that we prefund the pensions 75 years out. A standard not expected of any other company or branch of the gov't.
