Pros

Great benefits and opportunity. Various schedules help most employees. Carrier and Clerk jobs are great if you excel in customer service.

Cons

The economy has had an impact on hiring. Many jobs have been lost through attrition. There are employees that have the mentality that they can't get fired.

Pros

Many benefits including retirement plan, steady employment, opportunities for advancement, offices around the country which makes it easy for people who would like to move around.

Cons

For new employees, the benefits package will be reduced or become more expensive. More difficult now to be hired as a full time permanent employee. With the reduction of Postal facilities around the country, opportunities for advancement will shrink.

Hell and Abuse!

Pros

Pay per hour rate is more than most places, I learned that I am much stronger than I ever thought I could be and that my capacity to achieve under extreme challenges is high. The reference of having been employed there is good.

Cons

The conditions you work under physically, emotionally and verbally are "Abusive"! As a term (*1-yr. temporary fill in) employee you do not receive pay on Holidays and those are required that you be out so you just are forced to be out without pay...there are NO Benefits at all as a term (1-year long) employee. You are the lowest man on the totem pole and as such are sent out on the worst possible routes to deliver mail and this is ongoing as well as being treated as if you are a piece of gum on the bottom of someone's shoe .......oh, except, all carriers are pretty much treated like crap. Physically you are subject to extreme environmental and circumstantial conditions that are inhuman like.....no way to go to the bathroom for 10-straight hours while you work and this went on for the whole duration of my time there! (females if your periods are heavy you better wear an adult diaper during this time) No way at all will you have an actual break or lunch time during your time of work (I would have an apple and some hands full of nuts while driving each day and that was it!) In the heat of summer you have NO air conditioning and are running, jumping, lifting, pulling etc. in a metal truck that is over 100-degrees inside it and you are in it non stop for 8-10 hours Many carriers have suffered heat exhaustion and passed out..........I could go on and on believe me but that is probably enough!
