USPS good place to work

Pros

Usps is a great place to work, the benefits and pay are above the civilian sector and there are not too many other jobs that will afford you the opportunity to advance to a management position in just a few years.

Cons

Not all employees are treated equally, Union has it's pet employees as does management. Required to do the work of the non-productive employees just because you excel in your position.

Pros

The benefits are fabulous, and if you know where to look and how to get access, there are terriffic opportunities to improve skills that will be portable to another job. If you aren't proactive, though, the opportunities are opaque. There is job security, though I'm not always sure that that is a good thing. Some people would be happier, and make everyone else happier were they in a different job.

Cons

There is a toxicity to the work atmospehere in every single post office I've worked in... and I've worked in a few, in different capacities. Too many people come to work with a sense of entitlement, and then they are offered only sticks and no carrots for doing a good job.
