Pros

Good pay, benefits, and job security

Cons

Constant changes, unreasonable middle management and time standards. Lower pay and benefits for new employees. Micromanaged by clueless Congress.

Pros

The starting pay is excellent, plus mileage for a rural carrier. The idea is to work smarter, not harder; the quicker you deliver the mail, the sooner you go home. Once you go full time, the benefits are excellent. I have met really great people delivering mail and your not in the office all day! The faster you learn, the more routes you will learn.

Cons

Waiting to go full time can take years and you have no benefits until then. Delivering in snow can be dangerous. Part time employees are on call always. It's hard to get a second job because the post office is #1. The routes are rough on your vehicle. It is not for everyone! Until you really get a good handle of what you are doing, it is very stressful.
