Pros

Free sparkling water and coffee.

Cons

At the end of the day all this Company cares about is profits. Their employees are the least of their concerns. There isn’t any training in place, very little communication and the producers have full reign over the renewal process from start to finish. They do not respect the opinions of anyone else but those who are in the same echelon as them. Client teams are not invited to client meetings, and when they are, they usually aren’t expected to comment. It seems to be frowned upon to have an opinion if you are not a Producer or Sales Exec. If you voice your opinion in any way, and management doesn’t approve they will put you on the fast track to termination – because it is their way or the highway. Everyone there is disposable to them, even if all your past reviews were flawless (when they decide to have them). Since Washington is an “at will” State, they do not need a reason to terminate you – and will not give you a reason. The P&C department is cutting back on flexibility. They are no longer encouraging working from home and are extending peoples workdays to make up for the amount of people they have laid off and/or those that have chosen to leave on their own accord. Every one that has left, they have not replaced, and it is sort of a sweat shop mentality now. Also, you only get 19 days of PTO a year (total) – which is very low by industry standards, especially if you aren’t able to work from home. It seems like the old school insurance mentality is coming back into play at USI and while other companies are becoming more and more flexible, USI is moving in the opposite direction. When you live in a booming, fast paced City like Seattle you need to start looking at the benefits other Companies are giving to maintain talent and intrigue younger candidates.

Pros

Great team. Can trust the people around me to help including management. Problems seem to get addressed quickly and there is support when needed. Work schedules are flexible and they are understanding about time off.

Cons

So far can't think of any.

Pros

Salary is “ok” for someone young starting out. This position will give you some skills to take elsewhere

Cons

Many! Toxic environment, micromanagement - treated like children, no trust, no empathy from direct management, leads are recycled and bad, some team members favored over others, MAJOR lack of communication and miscommunication between management, alarming amount of pointless meetings, time management is terrible, etc etc etc
