Pros

Benefits and time accrual for vacation and holidays are better than anyplace local. Paid medical insurance for employees. Patient load regarding healthcare specialties provide interesting and rewarding work experiences.

Cons

No raise unless the state legislature approves it. No merit or cost of living increases. The salaries are only competitive upon hire. New hires are brought in making more than current employees for same job titles.

Pros

You get to be the MacGyver of nursing because you don’t have up to date supplies or equipment. So, your critical thinking skills will be on point.

Cons

Management will send you text threatening to not award you PTO if you don’t work extra. Management sends texts “encouraging” staff to stay at the hospital during a natural disaster. But not one shows up. NOT ONE NURSING LEADER SHOWED THEIR FACE during an unprecedented natural disaster. We ran out of supplies at Christmas and during this disaster and had no support from leadership. So basically you are on your own. They will not even make sure the parking lot is safe for you.

Pros

easy exceptance, good community, free CE, help with retaining credentials.

Cons

Management fails to properly correct poor employee work environment and shift stressors. Shifts are 9,12,24, and 48Hrs but never expect to be off on time.
