Pros

Employee Discount Fun Environment when store is open Meeting and working with some great people

Cons

I've never worked in a position that has required so much out of me. Not only is the work physically demanding but as a manager, there are many tasks throughout any given day that require constant attention. However, all that becomes secondary because I spend a great deal of time cashiering. Corporate dictates the labor hours in each store and on many occasions, there are no cashiers scheduled because there are no hours for it. Even with diminished labor hours, the tasks are not lessened, just your hours to complete them. Turnover is consistent so we're always in training mode, but training itself is not consistent. There is so much information to filter down that it's next to impossible to do so. There is no clear communication process, nor clear guidlelines from corporate on how to do this within each store. The physical demands certainly don't match up with the dress code. Each employee is required to be in dresscode even when doing physical labor. An employee is constantly crouching, bending, stooping, lifting, climbing, reaching, maneuvering and juggling...all in professional dresscode. The corporate internal Loss Prevention Policy treats all employees as if they are already guilty of stealing. It is policy to pat down coats and jackets, turn out pockets, carry clear purses, green dot product that the store carries, store and stockroom camera coverage, and on top of this, an employee can't walk out of the store without being checked out by a manager. This policy is embarrasing when played out in front of customers. I wouldn't recommend Ulta employment to anyone as the Pros do not outweigh the Cons.
