Pros

discount, set break times, half price at salon

Cons

Drama, extremely rude head manager, pay, hours, no training by management. At first I was getting decent hours and shifts now it is always 15 or less hours a week and only a 4 hour shift. Heas manager is just plain rude. Makes it miserable for any and everyone working there regardless if your cashier, salon, presitge or other managment. Rude notes are constantly left everywhere as to why the truck of 5 pallets wasnt finished in 4 hours when only 5 people work truck. Mass cosmetics is just down right horrendous. Many items have no placement on shelves so alot of products don't get put out. You can only have a salon service on Monday-Wednesday even if the salon says it is ok they are open again a rude not is left to both employees. If you do not use your headset when need managemnt you are always corrected saying "if you are a cashier use your headset I will not come up there if not." Head manager gives constant rude remarks, facial expressions and is just awful person. Bag checks are always, you even have to open your fast food cups to her to make sure nothing is in them. Head manager wants everything out ASAP and ad fast as possible yet again rude notes are left because it is sloppy and not in straight lines. We are timed on every box we put away, never is fast enough.

Pros

Product discount, learning about new products, fun customers, gratis, fun employees, decent open hours, pride in helping guests find exactly what they need to feel more beautiful

Cons

No training, very little praise, confusion, no benefits for MSC, empty promises of transferring to full time position, communication lacks between managers, "clique" feeling from part time manager when viewing full time managers, gossip drama

Pros

The employee discount is probably one of the best perks of this position. If you are lucky enough to be in the Prestige department - you also are rewarded with free product via gratis from training with the different brands. The quality of products is also phenomenal in the Prestige department. Clients appreciate the consultative approach to selling - and the ability to meet their needs from a large selection of products. The atmosphere of "many counters under one roof," allows associates to not be hard-wired to one brand.

Cons

Being a "selling manager" here is difficult. There is little time allotted to complete duties specific of management - ie., event planning, paperwork, conference call prepping, performance appraisals, coaching, budgeting, etc.. Communication is also very poor. There is one terminal computer all management shares - including one email - so emails get lost, deleted, etc..
