There are a lot of people that have been in the banking industry a very long time and are used to doing things how it's always been done. There is a lot of resistance to change which seems to result in inefficiencies and unnecessary costs. There were too many supervisor/management levels. At one point there were more people in my department managing than working. This structure seems to also have the negative effect of discouraging communication between management and the "worker bees".
