Pros

Not labor intensive. Excellent pay for high school education. Benefits are nearly unmatched. 30 years for 100% vested in retirement system.

Cons

Micromanagement and on call schedule. You cannot plan more than a few days in advance at most. Calling in sick is your only option many times to even make a doctor's appointment.

Pros

Peers working with you are laid back Contractors are treated similar to employees The culture is great Safety is number one here both at HQ and field

Cons

Management thoughts are hierarchical in nature. People with more experience from other company or other state is not valued here. Only Union Pacific experience counts.
