Pros

Don't have to break your back at work so when you get home your not exhausted. Freedom to manage my own workload and timeline. When/if you get laid off, there is actually some sort of procedure and notice (unlike the construction end)

Cons

For the skilled trades, the pay is subpar. Without "seniority" the new guy will get stuck on a possibly crappy schedule.

Pros

Fun, physical job where each day is different.

Cons

Not enough work for employees with low seniority. Furloughs were a given. The management also has a toxic relationship with labor in the Portland Service Unit.
