Pros

High salaries, steady bonuses, great retirement and a clean office environment. Opportunities to work on engaging projects.

Cons

People with no business being Executives are promoted from within, bringing all of their "leadership by intimidation" with them while making decisions based on relationships, not actual acumen.

Bad Working Enviroment

Pros

You get to see some very beautiful parts of the United States. You meet different people from all across the United States.

Cons

The work is extremely difficult. Most of the supervisors and managers are completely unprofessional and have zero concerns about employment agreements. The money you make is minimal for the amount of time you are away from home. You are expected to be on call 24/7 even though it's not in your contract and your not paid to be on call.

Good company going through rough patch

Pros

Good pay, opportunities to connect with coworkers, job movement prevents boredom, wide variety of positions available to work in, working for a company that has a history and is generally very respected (even adored by a few) is satisfying, great retirement benefits

Cons

Decrease in carloadings is leading to job attrition among leadership positions (i.e. positions that could be attained by an employee 8+ years in their career). This will make career progression difficult as I do not anticipate these positions will open again as volume (hopefully) increases in the future. Limited control over career progression in early career. The negative things you'd expect with an old company... Flex work schedules are rarely available (part-time/jobs shares) although the C-suite makes it seem like a given.
