Cons
Do not quit a good job to come work for UP. In the LA area there are almost 100 guys on Furlough (Laid-off), yet the company is still hiring new trainees. The pay is good when you are in training but when the training is over there is not enough work so you end up basically unemployed. Until you have been here long enough to gain a significant amount of seniority you will not have anything close to a schedule. Managers really should be called Rules Police. You are pretty much going to work where you are hired, there is no system-wide seniority here.
