Pros

Pay is great for how little work you really do. You can't beat Railroad Retirement. Benefits are decent. They used to be great, but every year they take away a little bit more and make you pay for the difference.

Cons

-Managers are clueless, don't have a clue how to do their job or what really goes on out in the field. -No schedule. Always looking at the computer or your phone trying to figure out when you MIGHT go to work. You WILL absolutely work nights, weekends and holidays until you have about 20 or 30 years under your belt. Forget about spending anytime with family or friends. You won't be able to schedule anything like a dentist appointment. -Train lineups are completely unreliable. -Consistently lied to...about training, pay rates, work, claims, etc, etc, etc... -FTX reports are falsified constantly. I was tested on trains or days I never worked. -Instead of fixing an issue to better the company, they just implement more rules. Which YOU will get in trouble for. -There are so many stupid rules, that you are more focused on what rule you might be breaking because you want to keep your job, rather than the task you are performing. And they wonder why all these stupid accidents happen. You are distracting your own people from being safe! -Unrealistic goals set by the big wigs in Omaha. Zero accidents and zero injuries? In what universe? -People who run the company couldn't switch a turd out of a perfume factory.
