Pros

Unlimited passive income potential. I know reps who make hundreds of thousands of dollars after 2-3 years. Win and keep many clients and your commission will increase forever. Lots of freedom for those who can manage their time well. Both products (UPS and freight) practically sell themselves if you manage to get in the door and reach a decision maker who values saving money. If you're happy staying a sales rep forever you can build a huge book of business, set your own schedule, and enjoy a great range of autonomy.

Cons

Not for introverts or people who can't handle constant rejection. Must make 50-75 contacts a day or you will fail. UPS can be difficult to sell to businesses accustomed to FedEx. Freight is highly competitive and high maintenance. No room for advancement unless you want to become business partners with your franchise owner or buy your own franchise.

Pros

Good management/employee engagement. It is a decent entry or mid-level sales position where you can learn to prospect businesses. The training program is great and sets you up to succeed provided you are willing to work. Owners are good people and it is a laid back atmosphere.

Cons

When I worked there it was smaller then now so it was a bit too familyish. They were just starting to grow so some promises were made, like retirement plans, that were never delivered. The commission is capped and territories that are owned can be picked over limiting success in sales. The owners are a bit quirky. They have most of their family working there making the others feel like outsiders, although not intentionally.

Pros

Industry leading technology, great contracts with nationwide carriers, and always looking to improve customer base with great customer service and an ever increasing working knowledge of the freight shipping world.

Cons

Pay could be more competitive, long hours including after hours demands, individual franchises can only provide support to their own customers. Corporate support is not always accurate/timely in their responses.
