Pros

The experience of meeting new people. Working around different air crafts. Hearing the Inflight crew flight stories . The flight benefits are the best out of all airlines. Being able to retire with lifetime flight benefits.

Cons

What they don’t tell you is the job is very strenuous especially for the pay rate having to operate as the ticket/gate agent/ramp agent/wheelchair assistance all in one shift. Monthly computer lessons that repeats its self every year that is mandatory to complete even though you don’t have the time to complete while you’re 4-5 flights a shift: As a ramp agent you’re constantly lifting bags 10-100lbs per flight (40-100 bags per flight) As a customer service agent (ticket/gate) you have to explain to irate passengers that you do not have control over Nature so you can’t make their flight appear on time or at all. The point system is trash. Lord forbid you live on the other side of town and you get a flat or you stuck in traffic or Life just happens outside of work and catches you up in an unfortunate situation, you are held accountable and get 6 strikes against you and lose your job. More unfortunate . I’m not sure why my station can’t keep managers but there’s that part . No for sure advancement opportunities . We won’t gone down that rabbit hole here though. The subsidiary company are the worst. Oh I forgot to mention the Health insurance SUCKS. You have to work 10hrs a day in order to have a $100 a month Health insurance that actually sucks. Otherwise $500 a month for part time workers even though you’re schedule full time hours if you’re short staffed. Mind you you’re still on a $10.05 pay rate. And flight benefits - although nothing in life is free , United Express definition is facts when it comes to the flight benefits. Your regular buddy passes are being paid at a discount rate through the person listed but what they don’t tell you until you check your pay stub . You pay the other half out of your check for a STANDBY ticket !! Yaaay !! And that’s all I gotta say about that (in my Forrest Gump voice)
