Keeps at least 1 verbally abusive employee on the payroll. Lack of standardized design guides in this field - prepare to have your designs challenged by review agencies. There are questionable industry wide standards. There is frequent disconnects between sales, engineering, and drafting. Modeling software has some flaws that are sometimes questioned by outside reviewers. Especially Union Pacific Railways.
