Pros

Most people enjoy what they do, so they are enjoyable to work with. The work is rewarding when the space program is moving forward. Flexibility in schedule when not required for mission support.

Cons

Lower than average pay for the industry. Benefits started out great, and are now moving to average. Career advancement with USA seems to be limited to the non-technical side, so in order to move into technical management within JSC you will have to get a civil servants badge. Misleading salary scale reporting (i.e. 99% of employees make less than what is reported as the median salary for a given position).

Pros

Very interesting work. The shuttle was always exciting. Benefits were better than you receive working for some other companies. Opportunities to transfer into NASA were available.

Cons

Company was only for the shuttle. Unfortunately position used a custom language, this prevented actual development that would further a career outside of USA.
