Pros

Caring, smart people. Competitive salaries for nonprofit sector. Chapter-based structure - no single United Way is the same. Opportunity for front line management training, opportunity to impact changing business model.

Cons

Again, chapter based structure - no single United Way is the same. 100-year old fundraising model is in flux, with chapters needing to quickly figure out how to adapt.

Pros

Some of the brightest people work there and higher education and intelligence is valued. Creative and motivated team members who consistently go above and beyond to meet management expectations.

Cons

Management expectations. The nonprofit world is changing and UWS has tried to keep ahead of the curve with innovative programs and partnerships. Management seems too far removed from the work though, especially as the organization has continued to merge with other UWs and expand.
