Pros

They do not micromanage. Plenty of work/life balance. Strong brand recognition of United Way opens a lot of doors. We are able to work alongside and network with the leaders of the community from every sector.

Cons

Can be a very heirarchal organization despite lots of claims that they are not. There can be a lot of internal politics. Gaining employee feedback can be useful but at times I think employees need to be simply held more accountable to fulfilling expected roles.

Pros

It is rewarding because you are personally involved in helping to change an individual's life. It is also a pleasure to witness the end result(s) of all your hard work.

Cons

The senior management team are a corrupt group. If you're not well-liked, they will make your job very difficult by sabotaging assignments, deleting emails, and making themselves unavailable when you need their cooperation or signature on projects. It was hell.
