Pros
It is a fortune 25 company that looks great on a resume. The company is telecommuter friendly. There are opportunities to advance-but they are usually in other departments. The salary is decent, but they usually do not tell you that you will be working 60 hours a week for that salary. There is a decent amout of time off per year. The company does have annual employee surveys and management is required to come up with a plan on how they will correct things the employees have issues with indicating that they are making an effort. I do have some great co-workers that work very hard and are great to work with.
Cons
You would think a health insurance company would have good health benefits, but that is simply not the case (for example I had to file a formal appeal for a second round of antibiotics when sick with bronchitis-the company said they were not covered). Communication between departments is horrible, and you often learn about things by reading the newspaper. The company is so concerned about shareholder and bottom line they forget the importance of employees being happy. A perfect review (literally perfect) got me less than 1% of my annual salary as a bonus, and no raise. This will be the second year in a row they are refusing to give raises for some departments, leaving me at the same salary for 2 years now. I am not alone in this. Once you are in, you will never get a decent raise again (a direct quote from HR to me).
