Pros

Relatively high-paying, low-stress, Good ESPP plan, Flexible re: WFH, not a bad entry-level position

Cons

Work is incredibly menial, low visibility, not much room for advancement. Program is mostly a feeder to replace all the older technology FTEs at United with younger talent. Work is often pitched as innovative/disruptive, but mostly just refreshing the company's tech. stack. Company as large as United is not interested in investing in true disruption in-house, would rather do so through acquisitions. Also 90% of the senior technology leaders at Optum are old White men. Nothing I witnessed while I was there made me believe that the D&I office was doing anything to materially change that.
