Profits before people every single time. No matter how you bend for these people there is no loyalty towards the employees. They give lip service to maintaining a work life balance, but regularly expect people to be available to work all night - largely because upper management is very poor at time management, but also because they will absolutely not manage client expectations. No matter how absurd the request or how short the time frame, they immediately assure that "we" (meaning mid-to-lower level management] can handle it.
