Lot of rules, rigid roles and distrust

Pros

Some really great people -- in particular faculty -- committed to students and the organization's mission.

Cons

Very authoritarian top down Mgmt. -- not very supportive of staff collaboration/interaction or staff development. Inflexible about work hours and telecommuting.

Pros

Working as a student photographer, I was given lots of creative freedom, experiential learning opportunities, and opportunity for networking too. I was able to use some amazing equipment too, which was helpful when I got a nice camera later and knew how to use it.

Cons

I'd say the biggest con is that they refused to pay for any more than 1 hour of editing, regardless of how much time you took to make their photos look good. They also paid only $15/hr, which is a super undercut for how much a professional photographer would earn- made me feel a bit taken advantage of when paired with the refusal to pay for editing time. If you care about the quality of your work you're going to spend more than 1 hour editing.

Great Sustainability Science mission. Small nice community, more responsibilities and opportunities beyond job description if ready and willing to take on.

Cons

Mediocre management /administration, provincial and petty institutional culture.
