Pros

There are great people working for the company; people who have been with the company for a long-time care about it, and want to make things better. Benefits offered are above average.

Cons

There is no direction within the company. The executive leadership team keeps on pressing that they are executing their strategy, yet everything that is being done is a knee-jerk reaction to whatever is that day's hot topic. Multiple major projects are not being completed, and are being shelved after wasting vast amounts of ressources. This is not helping with the distrust of the management team to successfully turn this sinking ship around. Employees are being blocked from internal promotions by senior management once they are offered new opportunities. Board-level politics are negatively affecting the business, with the newly-reformed BCS unit being put on a pedestal, but not being held accountable to any of its decisions. The new CEO came in with a promise of being transparent, yet the level of communication is at its lowest.

Pros

Good benefits. Competitive pay. Some smart people in mid-level roles.

Cons

This company gives new meaning to the word "crony". The corner offices are full of best buddies from former lives. Everyone sneaks around on tip toes, having whispered conversations in dark corners. Politics rules the day.

Pros

Still thinking... Thought i had something, but no. I'll keep thinking about it

Cons

Univar discards its employees. Bring up a concern about what they call compliance, get ready to be squeezed out the door. Stand up to management and refuse to be treated like an old, worn mat, get ready to be squeezed out the door.... See the trend? I worked for Univar for over a decade. The last year has been an everyday struggle between being treated like smelly trash and fighting to do the right thing despite the current. At the end i had to make a choice between my own integrity and a pay check. Don't be fooled by the amount of money thats been spent on making the company look "sexy". At best its a misrepresentation, at worst, from my perspective its just lies. Univar does its best to get employees to quit. They support blatantly hostile work environments and as employees quit they often do not replace them, forcing such on realistic work loads on the remaining employees that they too begin to drop one by one. This company wants an IPO no matter what the cost. Employees, truth, integrity and good citizenship are all expendable. Unless you too are soulless, this isnt a good place to work. Read When Sociopaths Go To Work and you'll get it.
