      Pros

      Unum has an excellent employee culture. The higher up management from my experience was very approachable and willing to help you develop. I only had 1 unsatisfactory manager in the 7 years that I worked there. Their home offices are beautiful and include an insight cafeteria and gym.

      Cons

      I only left Unum because I got offered $20,000 more at another company to do my same job. Everyone I know is leaving Unum because their pay is on the lowest end of the pay scale for any given job. For example, the pay scale for my role is (roughly) $68,000 to $98,000. Unum paid me $68,500 while my current employer pays me $85,000. Unum is a good “get your foot in the door” employer but lots of tenured people are leaving the company for better pay elsewhere. If Unum paid me what I make at my current employer, I’d honestly consider going back. Also, they overpaid me by $1000 after I left, and now they want me to pay them back, which is ridiculous.
