      Friendly, professional environment. Competitive pay and benefits. Relatively new technologies. Generally a good place to work. Employees sometimes stay with the company 20-30 years, typically a good sign.

      Cons

      Employees who stay at Unum several years consistently remark how political and seemingly arbitrary decision making can be regarding hiring, advancement, and elimination of positions. The appearance is that loyal employees having high performance evaluations are sometimes not rewarded or have their positions eliminated arbitrarily and vice versa.
