Terrible systems—both in management and technology
Pros
Learning finance and banking Bank hours and holidays off Most members are pleasant to work with
Cons
Do not tell them you speak Spanish because they do not pay you extra for it! Pay is not competitive, very limited growth opportunities Do not work at the Service Center unless you love having your manager micromanaging your every action and move. I started there and quickly changed over to loans after that dept got a new micromanager. Terrible technology from the 90s…UCCU’s core system looks and functions like it was made in the 90s and has not had any major upgrade since then. It’s clunky, slow and not user friendly. I’m a back office phone loan officer and the headsets and phone software we use works only half of the time. At least 10 calls or more every day are people saying they can’t hear me or that the connection is too poor. And the delay is so bad on our phone calls that the rep and customer are constantly interrupting each other. And that’s just the phone system! The main system we use for loan applications loses connection to the company’s internet multiple times every single day from 30 seconds up to 2 whole minutes. That’s up to 2 minutes of having someone on the phone (or at your desk) just waiting for your computer to load / start working again so you can help the member/customer. And that lag cycle can happen with anlmost every single click of the mouse. It’s unacceptably slow. Multiple times I have stated to myself ‘I cannot do my job.’ And it’s because of poor tech. Super conservative upper management who seem to have no idea what it’s like to be at the front line and entry level interacting with the customers.
