Pros

Benefits (retirement, time off, healthcare, fitness room) are amazing. Great working environment.

Cons

A lot of meetings, which can take away from job duties. Work a lot of hours when the department is short staffed.

Pros

Trains are cool and your job can directly impact people. Free health clinic. Free transit pass.

Cons

Toxic gossip culture. Poor communication and comprehension. Poor planning. Schedules are constantly an issue and you're expected to help pick up slack where needed. "Be part of the tem(family)" toxic culture. Regardless of data or patterns presented, UTA is stuck in old ways that are inefficient. Won't listen to employees, but says they want to hear you. Feelings of being gaslit. Employee culture has a lack of respect for riders and transients, even as far as making fun of them while watching security footage in office. Office environment is cold, smells, and is loud. Working on computers in a dark windowless room. Will witness disasters and possible death on the job. But it will be minimized by everyone. Thought UTA was "Safety First" but they'd kick a person off the train for not wearing shoes or a shirt before asking a rider to wear a mask during a pandemic. Hire ups will make 60-100k but will tell you the team does not deserve a better, livable wage.
