Lots of problems at the management level

Good compensation, interesting technology. Smart people at the execution level

Cons

1. Lack of executive leadership 2. HR department are free floaters that don't do anything 3. No work-life balance 4. Agreed, promotions are based on who you know and not what you do or how well you do it. 5. Executive management sit on a kings chair and don't really care if things are going well or not, and they don't want to hear anything. 6. Incompetent exec leadership

Pros

Fantastic pay and benefits - probably one of the best overall compensation packages you can find. The executives also genuinely encourage the employees to give back to their community.

Cons

Some of the organizations and their leaders are overly political and put personal ambition above team success and respect for people. The vast majority of the Engineering teams are still run like a startup, but that does not scale given the current number of employees, the majority of whom now reside outside of Palo Alto.
