Pros

- There are many BUs so I can't speak for all of them, but for mine, management is nice and understanding, zero micro managing - I'm 100% remote - Good benefits (insurance, $1k wellness allowance, 3 weeks PTO per year from hire) - Overall the culture is positive, nice not to be in a toxic work environment for once

Cons

- Sometimes things are so busy it's hard to get management or other authority figures on issues - for my BU, some days are overkill busy while others are pretty slow

Toxic company, bad management, bad attitude

Pros

brand name, suitable for beginners. You can do nothing all day long and still get paid and promoted, if this is what you are looking for. Remote work is also an option, but Broadcom will take that away, so not a perk anymore.

Cons

Where to start - there isn't 1 policy or way of doing things in VMware that actually makes any sense or brings value. No planning at all, whatever is done now, a month later is changed. Always trying to reinvent the wheel which causes delays and people leaving due to bad management. Level of management (manager, director, VP, etc.) has very very very poor skills as the corporate ladder is being climbed not based on knowledge or skills but based on personal ties and gossip. Our manager constantly makes sure to start scandals in the team, as he tells 1 guy other teammates are trash, then goes to the next teammate and says the same about the first. Toxic culture. Even if you mess up entire project and people get fired because of you - you still get promoted... Do not recommend to waste your time here and with Broadcom buying VMware there are layoffs everywhere and salaries are actually below average now and will go down with time, as Broadcom doesn't care about employees. Nor does VMware. It is just a big marketing trick with nothing to actually support it. Avoid at any cost and if there is no other option at least be prepared for a nightmare.
