Pros

- Previously good WLB - Good benefits - Flexible WFH options - Lots of opportunities to move internally - Lots of opportunity to learn - There may be some opportunity in the uncertainty of long term outlook post DELL spinoff NOTE: Most of the above has been negatively affected lately as employees leave for much better opportunities

Cons

- High turnover right now with many people leaving for more pay and less stressful work (which is caused by people leaving. Creates a vicious cycle of people leave, we have trouble hiring, work gets distributed to team, someone gets burned out and leaves for a better opportunity, repeat) - Decreasing WLB due to added work - More pressure on the business leaders which then gets passed on to technical leaders and teams - Decent pay, but honestly with low stock performance, many are leaving to pursue more lucrative offers. Many peers are leaving for 1.5x - 2.0x TC - CEO does not inspire confidence post DELL spin off - WLB previously was good, but early morning and late night calls can be killer over time.

Certain about our uncertainty

Pros

Mostly solid technology, opportunity to make money, focus on employee well being. There are still some really smart people here.

Cons

VMware continues to lose valuable talent at every level, from CEO down to individual contributors. This is a place that no longer attracts the industry's best and brightest minds. Open positions are now backfilled with 3rd stringers from hardware backgrounds (HP/IBM/insert random irrelevant technology company here). The result are leaders and teams of people who have limited software experience and do not understand the technology landscape or platforms VMware provides. In the end we get dysfunctional cross-sectional teams who are largely mismanaged, unhappy, don't attain quota, and feel unfulfilled. Those who have been here long enough are now being treated as outsiders. It's bizarre-o-world to say the least.
