      Pros

      The company revolves around engineering talent Current stock price makes it hard to leave Growth rate of the company provides a bit of reassurance

      Cons

      If you're not an engineer, you're a second class citizen Company politics are getting out of control Advancement policy makes it difficult to grow -- no promotions outside of your group Croney-ism is gotten much worse in the last year with senior management all bringing their buddies in There is no work life balance -- routine workdays are 12 hours long

      VMware had great products There is a very nice campus in Palo Alto Good employee perks (snacks, cafeteria, striving for a good company culture) Decent benefits

      Cons

      Little opportunity for advancement, most upward positions are filled by external candidate Success is based on who you know, not on output. Not a flexible work environment in terms or hours or WFH options

      VMware has cutting edge technology and is a great company to have on the resume. Unfortunately, that's where the pros end.

      Cons

      Career advancement is non-existent. Management is clueless. Did I mention that career advancement is non-existent? :)
