Pros

Let me start off by saying that the pros are great: 401k benefits, free food, choice of three shifts (early, normal, late), open environment, and fun company events. Coworkers even host events and invite you to join so you bond quickly if you're willing to make new friends. You work in a great area where everything is easily accessible and dress code is reasonable. When you start off at the company, it feels great.

Cons

As you slowly start to experience how the company is run, you tend to question whether this is normal or not. Can you really not work from home? Are you randomly selected to work on weekends and after hours if you don't pick a spot to sign up? Are managers supposed to comprise of people with less than 3 years experience? Are you supposed to be punished for helping other people? Do they ever encourage you for what a good job you're doing? Can you even move to a career opportunity you want to do? You can tell from other negative reviews that they talk about inexperienced managers. They are true. I don't want this to deter anyone from seeing the bright side of this company (because it's still growing), but until managers get better trained to make everyone happy (including themselves), I do not recommend anyone to go through that and think corporate industries run like this. It makes your life stressful, you feel like what you're doing is not worth it, and you lose your voice and imagination that can better shape the company. As a disclaimer, not ALL managers are like this. There are AMAZING managers in this company, but I am specifically talking about ones in the Technical Support role.

Pros

VMware is a very important company in the enterprise software market. There are many amazing opportunities to work with great people and to make an impact on a global company.

Cons

The new leadership team has caused a departure for many of the top people and they no longer dream big. There is new instability caused by the proposed acquisition of the company by Dell.

Pros

-Free coffee and tea -Great workout facility in basement of building -Lots of young people so its easy to make friends -Amazing holiday party -Good office location near restaurants and shopping

Cons

Micromanagement is encouraged and runs rampant, leading to extreme inefficiencies for most departments at AirWatch. Work life balance does not exist, and employees are encouraged to work weekends and 12 hour+ days without any extra benefit. Certain employees are shown preferential treatment based on personal relationships, and there is no opportunity to work from home. Salary and PTO is below average, and the employee evaluation process is a joke. Most managers are promoted simply based on tenure and have no leadership experience. There is a lack of communication company wide and managers are offered no feedback on performance. There are no opportunities for upward mobility unless you are working 80+ hours a week and working hours are set in stone (no flexibility for working hours).

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. AirWatch remains committed to recognizing employee’s need for work/life balance and going into 2015 we will be adding 5 additional PTO days and 1 additional paid holiday. We have been experiencing rapid growth over the last 3 years. This type of growth enables us to add more roles and responsibilities to high performing employees. We have a good mix of Jr and Sr level managers that we will continue to invest in through learning and development programs.
