Pros

Some great people are employed here and work hard. This was once a great company with a wonderful culture.

Cons

This is not a place to be hired at right now. The company is focused only on the shareholder and has not looked out for their employee's since Mo Gauthier took over as CEO. VSE is not an employer of choice and is in the midst of layoffs that may make their shareholder's happy but will not keep them in business. Mo continues to blame the economy instead of himself for his poor choices and lack of business acumen.

Pros

Great employees, great customers and a lot of foreign military sales contracts to support.

Cons

The management is unethical, discriminating with the good ol'boy way of thinking. I went to HR to discuss a Procurement Integrity Act complaint that I filed. I was immediately bullied, interrogated and threaten with being fired due to the compliant was against a highly respected Operation team member. I had to send an email to my MGMT when I started and stopped my lunch break. Hours are 7:30 am to 4:30 pm and no flexibility consideration is given if you have children or school to attend to. They record you work time when you unlock and lock your computer which is generated on a report that is reviewed by HR. When it came to annual performance evaluations, I was dismissed on all my good merits because I would unlock my computer everyday at 7:33 am. Salaries are the lowest in the geographical area for all labor categories and promotion rates (especially for women) are the lowest I have ever seen.

Unethical, poorly managed, and mostly out of control!

Pros

For a period there were good people working there, but most of them left because it was the smart thing to do. Large enough company to move upward and have some autonomy in your position or group, but this was held on a tight leash.

Cons

Extremely questionable, definitely unethical, and probably illegal practices occurring. Even with reporting to internal controls, it didn't seem to make any difference. Senior management does whatever they want and ignores the "right" way to do things, only looking out for themselves, their boy's club, and their income. When working with foreign entities and governments, be cautious in trusting the leadership that they follow the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. They are teaching those who stay how to break the rules (to one day fall in their place!)
