      Pros

      None, from the moment you interview they make it seen as of VSE is the perfect company. Don’t be fooled. They are too busy trying to monopolize the industry by acquiring companies left and right.

      Cons

      Management has no idea what they are doing. Everyone is focused on themselves rather than their team. If you’re not kissing butt than you’re not in the click. They treat good employees as if they’re disposable and fire them out of nowhere. Managers don’t know how to delegate or help employees grow.

      Great Learning Experience with Supportive Team and Flexible Work Culture

      Pros

      Collaborative work environment with supportive colleagues and approachable management. Gained hands-on experience with federal and state tax filings, as well as exposure to corporate tax strategy. Flexible hybrid work schedule was a major plus, especially during peak filing periods.

      Cons

      Limited career advancement within the tax department due to its small size. Occasionally tight deadlines, especially during quarter-end reporting cycles, could lead to high pressure. Some legacy systems still in use, which slowed down data retrieval and reporting.

      Not everything is as it seems

      The group of individuals that worked alongside with me from other departments.

      Cons

      Career advancement is heavily influenced by favoritism rather than merit. Promotions often go to friends or favorites of leadership, particularly within TA which undermines the integrity of the recruitment process. Internal promotions feel predetermined, and employees aren't given a fair or transparent shot. It’s demoralizing to see roles handed out based on personal relationships rather than qualifications. Growth seems dependent on personal relationships with upper management—especially within Distribution. Seeing individuals with questionable performance get multiple promotions in a year is disheartening for those putting in the work. HR lacks empathy and often appears to act in self-interest rather than advocating for employee wellbeing. Concerns are often dismissed or not taken seriously.
