Pros

working with guests benefits training in both technical skiing and guest service management training team work

Cons

it is the nature of the industry that it is tough to maintain work/life balance as there is more work and less employees as season goes on. There are great leaders, but sometimes they seem to get burned out and not recognized Then there are poor leaders whose example I would never want to follow, and do not follow the management training provided by Vail - they actually are rude during these trainings no real committment or loyalty to employees by company - some individuals are fair and true - others play favorites, etc I was told - "I am going to get so and so fired" and 2 yrs later they were set up so it happened And this is the manager who stayed inappropriate comments by management no committment to helping an employee who is dedicated improve based on how well you can ski

Pros

The free ski pass and access to subsidized employee housing (for resort-area employees) are great. The pass gives you access to an absurd number of ski areas worldwide.

Cons

Many departments run by people who seem less-than-competent. The only explanation is that they've hung around longer than anyone else. In fairness, some departments are run very well, but it seems to be split pretty evenly.
