Pros

Benefits are great for families and the retirement is good.

Cons

They seem to promote based on folks being engineers. They have said before that engineers take care of engineers. Even though at the end of the day, most don’t make good managers. I find that they seem to pass up those without an engineering background, but they do have all the qualifications one needs to be a great manager.

Pros

Valero offer competitive benefits, pay, opportunities to develop and grow. Working at Valero began as a big culture shock. Never had I ever felt as appreciated and a vital contributing team member in any workplace prior to Valero. Plus my pay was amazing and the training was always available and very beneficial.

Cons

Anyone working at Valero is blessed because employees are taken care of. However, there was a lot if favoritism for family members, or friends creating cliques and some who advance are poor leaders. The pay keeps people happy, but some poor relationships with leaders created toxicity at times, resulting in lacking performance.

Good benefits that management is always trying to reduce for the bottom line.

Cons

Management doesn’t care about Operator’s safety, workloads or anything other than making a career off the backs of operations by saving the company pennies in the grand scheme of company expenses.
